With a background in Pharmacology, Dr. Dinesh Kumar served the prestigious premier nutrition research entity of India – ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition and retired as Scientist-G (Director Grade) after serving 38 years. Currently he is Chairman of the Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and Materials in Contact with Food (SP-01),  Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) as well as an Expert Committee Member  for approval of non-specified food and food ingredients. He is also an Expert Member of the State Level Appraisal Committee (SEACT) and Environment Impact Assessment Authority Telangana (SEIAAT) as well as in the Expert Working Group of the  Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission- of Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids, Fatty Acids etc. & Packaging Material.

He is recognized nationally and globally for his contributions to the fields of Preclinical Toxicology, Nutrition-Pollution Interaction and Social Drug Epidemiology. His achievements in successful implementation of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in research and strengthening the regulatory guidelines are remarkable. He has also been actively involved as one of the main investigators in epidemiological outbreaks and as a frontline warrior in COVID-19 operations of ICMR-NIN.

He is a Recipient of Norman Borlaug Fellow–USDA and elected Fellow of several prestigious science academies – National Academy of Medical Sciences (FNAMS), Andhra Pradesh Akademi (FAPAS), & Telangana Academy of Sciences, (FTAS), Indian Pharmacological Society (FIPS). He has coordinated with IAEA, WHO, World Bank, Indo-US Research Initiative and several National agencies like DBT, CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, DST, AYUSH-CCRAS, MoH&FW, India and UK India (MSDE) and many Private Agencies for scientific projects.

He has over 80 scientific publications, 70 Regulatory Reports, several Chapters in books, Popular articles apart from Educational films to his name.
