Lead Poisoning in Madhya Pradesh: Roundtable - June 28th, 2024, Bhopal

The fifth state roundtable in Bhopal brought together 30 participants from a wide range of domains. Government representation from the state included the National Health Authority, Madhya Pradesh Rajya NITI Aayog, Department of Women and Child Development, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Madhya Pradesh Voluntary Health Association while representatives from multilateral organizations included UNICEF and Asian Development Bank. Representatives from prestigious institutions, such as CSIR-Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, National Institute for Research in Environmental Health, Central Forensic Science Laboratory Bhopal, Medico-Legal Institute, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis and Clinton Health Access Initiative Inc, played a crucial role in enriching the two hour discussion facilitating a fruitful exchange of knowledge on lead poisoning and the way forward.

Lead Poisoning in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana: Roundtable - 29th April, 2024, Hyderabad

The fourth state roundtable in Hyderabad brought together 35 participants from a wide range of specialisations. Government representation from the state included the National Health Authority, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Public Health & Family Welfare, and Andhra Pradesh Voluntary Health Association. The event also saw participation from multilateral organizations such as UNICEF. Representatives from prestigious institutions, including NIPER Hyderabad, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, and the Centre for Good Governance, along with industrial representatives from the Amara Raja Group, contributed to the discussions. The two hour discussion with diverse representation from government bodies, multilateral organizations, esteemed research institutions, and industrial groups facilitated a fruitful exchange of knowledge on lead poisoning.

Lead Poisoning in Chhattisgarh Roundtable - 15th March, 2024, Raipur

The third state roundtable in Raipur brought together 23 participants from diverse fields, including significant representation from the Government, with the State Health Resource Centre and AIIMS playing key roles. Attendees also included representatives from prestigious institutions such as the National Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology and Management, and Late Shri Lakhiram Agrawal Government Medical College. Enthusiastic participation from members of health NGOs enriched the two-hour discussion, promoting an enriched discussion on the best path forward for the state.

Lead Poisoning in Odisha Roundtable - December 20th, 2023, Bhubaneswar

The second state roundtable in Bhubaneswar, saw 25 participants from various fields attend. Odisha government representatives from the State Pollution Control Board and FSSAI; senior doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar and ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar; scientists from the Zoological Survey of India, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Institute of Physics; academicians from Utkal University, Berhampur University and OUAT as well as members of health NGOs participated with enthusiasm and debated the best way forward for the state over the course of the 2 hour discussion.

Lead Poisoning in the North-East Roundtable – October 20th, 2023, Guwahati

The first state roundtable, organised by the IWG Secretariat, saw 31 scientists, doctors, NGO workers and academics from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland attend. Representatives from the Assamese government, including members of the State Pollution Control Board, FSSAI, Department of Planning and Transformation also participated. The 2 hour discussion saw multiple sources of lead poisoning in the North-East discussed as well as the next steps needed, such as more research, sharing of data, on-ground awareness etc.
