The India-Lead Elimination Action Project (i-LEAP) is an initiative by Pahle India Foundation, to tackle the pressing issue of lead poisoning, that is impacting one in two Indian children, with lifelong physical and mental health issues.
Under the umbrella of i-LEAP, the PIF team, led by the country’s most distinguished experts in public health and policy, are trying to bring together all the relevant stakeholders to better understand the issue, conduct the required research and develop policy recommendations which can be shared with the government.
We have successfully instituted the India Working Group on Lead Poisoning, whose members guide and advise all our efforts. We are in the process of collecting grass-root inputs and spreading awareness through state roundtables, conducted with local experts in some of the worst affected states of India. We regularly meet with government leaders, multilateral institutions representatives’ and international NGO and research body members, to keep them abreast of our initiatives and find new ways to collaborate. We hope to conduct BLL and source testing with statistically significant and scientifically valid sample sizes which can help bolster our argument, for the urgent need for intervention through an all of society, all of government approach.
We hope you will join us in this fight to eliminate lead poisoning from India, and secure a safe and healthy future for our children and all the generations to come.
